Art teacher Brian Grub has always felt that the design involved with commercial art sets it autonomously from other art forms and classes.

"Y'all make art, y'all express yourself, it's fun," Chow said. "You go some skill sets and maybe a cool projection at the end of it, and y'all move on with your life. With the design part of it, you lot do the same thing, but then that thing can as well be monetized and sold, or utilized, right at the signal of making it."

Junior Chris Lee offset decided to take the commercial fine art class offered at MVHS considering he thought it would be an interesting grade. Lee has always loved art, and would e'er be doodling or sketching during class. He feels this class has immune him to further explore his passion for art.

"It's just always been a part of who I am," Lee said. "This grade actually helped me realize I really do savour doing stuff like this, and it could be a career selection subsequently in the future."

Like to Lee, senior Kate Yang is as well looking into design as a career. She decided to have commercial art considering Chow encouraged her to, and because she believed information technology could assistance her in the time to come.

"I really like art, so I definitely want to explore more traditional art." Yang said. "I'm as well aiming for being a product designer in the future so [commercial fine art] volition definitely help."

Chow says that the commercial art grade encompasses visual design, as well every bit constructing products. Withal, Chow also takes the students' preferences into consideration when it comes to the curriculum.

"It depends on the students their skill sets and also the stride of the class," Chow said. "It depends on the group dynamic. If at that place are less students interested in, let's say interactive design, then nosotros won't practice more than things that kind of relate to that."

Grub too says that when designing something, anyone who wants to contribute will be able to, since the skill prepare is broad. Additionally, he thinks that blueprint can play a large role in problem solving.

"Not just for personal purposes, merely also for an manufacture, and for bettering the world. Yang expresses that she feels proud after finishing a creation in fine art, only doesn't necessarily feel the same when it comes to projects in commercial arts currently. She is waiting for product designing, which she is much more interested in than the current commercial art curriculum.

"Seeing yourself brand such a neat piece and so the fact that you lot think nearly the process, it's merely great," Yang said. "It'south really lovely to come across the results. For art, every time I finish a project I feel proud, but for commercial arts, I don't experience as proud or as happy."

Lee shares his own struggles, saying that it'due south hard to be satisfied with a finished project because it might not have turned out to be what i envisioned information technology to exist.
